Elegant and appropriate for today’s Remembrance Day commemorations in London’s City Hall, Kate Middleton’s traditional winter coat was the perfect option for the occasion.
The Duchess of Cambridge, Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall, and Sophie, Duchess of Wessex all attended the Remembrance Day service at The Cenotaph, despite the Queen’s absence due to a sprained back, as is customary. There were large poppies sewn on to their outerwear and drop earrings were worn by all three, but it was Camilla and Catherine who chose to wear large black fedoras. In contrast to Camilla’s, Catherine’s had a grosgrain ribbon instead of the ostrich feathers.
You’re on the right track if you recognize this coat. For 2018’s Remembrance Day, Catherine wore a military-inspired coat from Alexander McQueen. It’s a one-of-a-kind creation from the British fashion label, but it bears a striking resemblance to some of their other designs, including cropped jackets and lace trims on the hem.
This time around, the Duchess opted for a short chignon and pearl earrings to keep things classic. To see more images of this Alexander McQueen coat in 2021 and 2018, keep scrolling.
